October 2013 - Vegan Cuts Beauty Box!

Here I will be posting my thoughts on my very first Vegan Cuts Beauty Box that I received last month. I had been browsing the internet looking for vegan boxes (not just beauty boxes) that ship to the UK or are from the UK as I am curious to find new vegan things I haven't seen before.

I am vegetarian, not vegan. Although I do eat vegan food as well & want to try to find more vegan food to try & also find more vegan household products / toiletries to try out as well so thats why I've been looking around specifically only for vegan boxes.

I am aware that Vegan Cuts also do a food box, but I will stick with just the beauty box for now but I may try the food box later!

Anyway, onto the box!

Everything arrived alright, one item leaked slightly but it was the one in the bubble bag and it didn't go all over everything so that was good!

The box came with a leaflet with information about the product contents and other information on the other side.

There was one item not listed on the card that I received which you will see below. Since the card doesn't say the sample value's so I'd have to look them up which I may do at some point.

Here are photos of the contents:

FIRST ITEM : Beauty without cruelty shampoo  - rosemary mint tea tree hair and scalp treatment. I'm really looking forward to trying this out and I will be doing so tomorrow. My scalp breaks out sometimes (most likely due to stress) so anything with tea tree is handy. I bought melt & pour solid shampoo to make my own shampoo specifically for my hair but I still like to try others as well. This is the brand I have heard of before. This is 59ml & you can buy it on their website at this size for $2.99 which is approx £1.87, but when calculating from the full size this amount actually values less.

SECOND ITEM: Concrete minerals eyeshadow in the shade Wicked. This retails $7 which is approx £4.38 according to google. Although I'll most likely be swapping this since I don't use eyeshadow.

THIRD ITEM: Bare Bones 50ml Cleanser. This I am also curious to try! I want to try different cleansers with my Foreo LUNA mini but even though I already have a few cleansers, no harm in trying more! You can buy the full size of this at $10.00 (approx £6.27) for 118ml so the sample is worth approx $4.24 (using a calculator) which is according to google £2.66. This was the item that leaked a bit.

FOURTH ITEM: Earth science naturals shampoo & conditioner samples 5ml each. These will get used! But since the full sizes of these are 12oz (approx 340ml) at $8.95 (approx £5.61) then these samples don't value much. From calculation around 8p each? 5.61 divided by 340 (full size) times by 5 (5ml) and I got 0.0825

FIFTH ITEM: Lotus Moon Vitamin B Hydrating Gel Facial Moisturizer. I don't have combination or oily skin so I have no idea if this will be any good for me. I have sensitive skin but I'll give it a try anyway.

SIXTH ITEM: Meow Meow Tweet Body Tonic. I will be totally honest in saying I've never used a body tonic before but I may give this a try. Full size is $22 (approx £13.78) for 2oz which is approx 57ml according to google. They sell samples on their website in 4ml so I'm guessing this is a 4ml sample? the company sells 4 of the 4ml samples for $12 (approx £7.52) although if i divided the 4ml from the original full size price it would come to £0.98

SEVENTH ITEM: The All Natural Face Lip & Cheeks In Dusky Rose. Since I don't use blush either this is another item I won't use. Not sure whether this is full size or not but you can buy them on their website for $5.75 (approx £3.60)

I paid £22.78 for this box , I think it was USD 34.95 & my bank charged an extra £1 fee..

Although I was going to get another box I decided to cancel and just stick with UK mixed boxed and not just beauty since I really only ever got beauty boxes for toiletry stuff, cleansers, lip balm, moisturisers etc and stuff like that and I have tons of makeup from previous beauty boxes I'll never use so I swap it. And with me being in the UK it costs extra due to shipping and not being a wearer of makeup its probably not the best choice of box for me unfortunately.

As well as that, I need to save my money just now and since I have 3 subscriptions running one had to be cancelled. Since this was the most expensive one for me and the UK one's I'm subscribed to are mixed vegan boxes I decided to stick with them.

I'll also be honest in saying, I'm not a big fan of sample sachets in beauty boxes either so that wasn't a big hit for me but I definitely did like the BWC Shampoo and the Bare Bones being in the box so thanks to Vegan Cuts for that :)

Photo Of The Day

The story behind this is, I bought a brand new scratch post activity center for my cats built it up today. Both cats were very impatient when it was being built up... I think they knew it was for them! However, since then both cats have been climbing it.

But...
Climbing it wasn't all spyro was doing!

Spyro decided to constantly swing round one of the poles like a pole dancer & then started to try to grab the rope with her teeth as she swung round. Its official my cats are insane. I'm surprised she didn't go flying off!

More pictures of the scratch post will be posted another time!

Nice, relaxing & quiet weekend

My friend came over to see me for the weekend which I was grateful for as I don't get many visitors. We planned to spend the weekend playing games and chatting but it turns out we only played pokemon haha!! On Saturday we went to Wetherspoons. I got a taxi to a bus stop then the bus to a stop right near Wetherspoons. The bus stop is near my house, but since I cant even walk to the corner of the street despite being right near the corner, there is no way I can even walk to a bus stop.

The food was quite nice, although I have to admit that the baked potato was nowhere near as nice as what my mum makes. We stayed in Wetherspoons for about 4 hours just chatting, eating lunch and desert and decided to go down to Tesco, get some snacks for later and jump the bus again from across the road. When we reached the bank near my house, we got off and sat at the bus stop and got a taxi again to my door. By this point I was exhausted. I hardly ever go out, due to my walking issues and most of my old friends no longer speak to me.. Most likely due to my rapid increase of health problems but at least I now know who my friends are!

He ended up staying through until Monday, as Sunday service with buses can be annoying! Although because he didn't have to go home early Sunday, we got a taxi down to Subway and had something to eat there & I brought one back for my mum. Good job Iceland was right by Subway since they had no lettuce and my mum likes it on her sub and so do I but I had tomato instead this time. Again got a taxi back home so the taxi service would have loved me this weekend. I have to get taxi's to the doctors and hospitals often so they get plenty from me!

Overall I had a nice and relaxed weekend. I don't get to go out for a Subway often never mind anything else since I tend not to go out at all unless its doctors/hospital or dentist so it was nice to do something different.

Handmade Jewellery Album - Over 300 Pieces

I made a Handmade Jewellery Album on Facebook for things I'm looking to sell. I haven't priced anything yet but I have asked for now for people to contact me if interested in anything and I'll let them know prices.
and browse my jewellery album there.

If anyone is interested in buying anything let me know.

I accept paypal & paypal fees will be included in the total.

Go away flu!

I've been pretty unwell the past week with a flu. It made me feel so drained and useless so I slept the first day or so of it but couldn't sleep much after that thanks to my sneezing fits.

Anytime I sneezed a lot, my cat Spyro came running to see if I was okay! Aww! And I was kind enough to share it with my mum ... oops!

Luckily, despite still coughing and sneezing a little... I think its going away. But I'll most likely look like Rudolph for a little while since I have done a lot of sneezing over the past week and my nose has been pretty raw.

On a good note, over the past week my two cats Spyro & Blaze have tried many crazy antics to cheer me and mum up and take our minds off having the flu.

Booked in!

Thats me finally booked in to get my 2nd tattoo at the end of the month and I have to say I am really looking forward to it .

For now, I'll keep the design idea a secret from the blog but I'll post photos once it is done!

I hoped to get it done by the end of the month so when the guy said to me today "what about 30th?" I was like... Perfect!

I had to make a deposit as I wanted them to draw the design for me too. I had the idea in my head just not on paper. It has a lot of meaning behind it and relates to me in many ways.

Right now, I'm quite excited about getting it done. Although on the day I'll probably want to jump about like a little kid.. although I won't because I'd end up really sore then haha!

More Parcels Arrived!

I've been planning to start baking again and recently I decided I wanted to start making paper beads. Some of the stuff has already arrived which is good but its just the beginning as I still have plenty more to arrive.

These are two of these sets of cutters that I bought. Both packs were 99p each free postage. Bargain!!
One is a set of 3 different size stars and the others pack contains a set 3 different size flowers.
This was also 99p with free postage.

The glitter pens I got for when I make paper beads at 99p free postage and for that price it was really good! Not just that but they arrived next day so thats fantastic delivery.

I also got this cutting mat for the same reason, for when I make paper beads. It may also come in handy for other things too. This cost £3.40 with free postage so again a very good buy.

These Mica Powders were on offer, buy 4 get one free! I use these for soap making, wax melt making and for other toiletries so they will get used. They were £1.25 each but for 4 the total was £5 + £1.95 Postage. Although it probably only cost 69p to post but still a good price for mica powders.

Other mail that I received was free samples:

3 Tea Samples. I don't drink tea or coffee but occasionally I get tea and coffee samples for my mum to try.

That is all the mail I got today!
Hopefully tomorrow brings some more.

Testing My New Incense Sticks!

I recently got a new incense holder as previously posted but I never had any incense sticks to use with it. I only had incense cones. After browsing ebay, I managed to find a seller selling 200 incense sticks for £4.98 and you can mix and match which I thought was really good but in the end I just chose the "Mega Mix" which included some of all the scents!

I found I had to trim the edge slightly before putting it into my holder as they were a bit too long for my holder.

Im actually so glad I bought this holder. I really like it and its good to be able to use both incense cones and sticks as previously i only had a small ceramic dish for incense cones so this is much better!

I've used a couple of incense sticks in it so far and even the cats come in sniffing the room.

For the price of 200 incense sticks for £4.95, it was certainly a good price!
I get 100 incense cones for £3.75 usually & since I have lots of tealight candles as well and make wax melts its safe to say things last a while!

Recent Swap - Swapped For A Dvd & Cd!

Swaps have been a little quiet lately, quite sad really since I love to swap and there's so much I'd like to swap for (not just for myself)

However, recently I did do a swap with another fantastic swapper for the following items:

I only had Transformers 1, so it meant I had to buy the 2nd one which I didnt mind at all! I quite enjoyed watching the first one so I will be watching the other two today.
BOUGHT ON EBAY FOR £4.06 ALTHOUGH THE SELLER IS NOW SELLING IT FOR £3.97

As for the papa roach cd, I didn't actually own any of their cd's before now despite knowing about their music. I used to have barely any cd's but I decided to start collecting more cds including cds from magazines like rocksound etc.

This is what I gave to her for the dvd & cd:

She's left feedback now so I guess now it is my turn to leave feedback! I will watch the both the transformers movies (one i bought & one from the swap) then leave feedback.

If you use swapz.co.uk for swapping then you should check out her swap page:

High Flyers August 2013 Glossybox

I got this box with July's box in an offer for 2 for £15. Their boxes are usually £10 + £2.95 postage. I cant say I was impressed with the contents at all because most I would never use. They have beauty profiles and well.. it would appear they don't get acknowledged since I would have much preferred philosophy or the eucerin aquaphor to the makeup stuff and eyelash curlers..

 Opening the box..
CONTENTS OF THE BOX.
The box contains a leaflet that has some information from Glossybox & includes the contents information, their full size price & subscription offer which i will share below!
I also got this welcome to glossybox card with the box.

Item 1:
Urban Veda Natural Skincare Tumeric + Bontanics Radiance Day Cream. 10ml
This is founded on ancient Indian principles according to the leaflet. This is really the only item in the box I was interested to try. The fact that it was natural skincare stood out to me. It retails at £14.99 for 50ml making this worth approx £3.

Offer:
Visit www.urbanveda.co.uk to receive 20% off your first order, enter code GlossyB (Expires 01/12/13)

Item 2:
Emite Makeup Eye Lash Curlers
What?! £20 RRP for eyelash curlers? I've never actually used eyelash curlers before but I certainly wouldn't pay £20 for some.. But that's just me.

No discount codes for this one.

Item 3:
Jelly Pong Pong 2 in 1 Shadow / Liner

I think people got this in different shades. I got black although I'll never use it. Full size £10.50. This item is from the UK.

 Item 4:
TRESemme Keratin Smooth Concentrated Treatment Shot

This treatment is supposed to return sun, sea, salt and chlorine weathered hair to summer goddess glory. In that case being indoors most the time this is no good to me either. Full size 15ml for £1.49. This item is from the USA.

Item 5:
Oceane Makeup Remover Pen
Well since I don't wear makeup, this isn't any use to me either. This is from Brazil and isn't yet available in the UK. I have no idea about the price as their website is in a different language.

OVERALL..  I would only use one of the items worth £3. Looks like I'll be swapping the rest. I should probably just stick to latest in beauty boxes if i see any I like or any that show spoilers before hand because I'm far too picky and end up with so much I wont use.

New glasses charms turned into earrings

New glasses charms arrived today & I was curious to see what they would look like as earrings.

I won them in an auction on ebay, pack of 100 charms. They're silver tone plastic charms.

I will most likely add some to the blog sale eventually in case anyone is interested but not sure when yet. If someone wants some sooner though, be sure to let me know.

This was the outcome from making them into earrings. I will probably add some pairs of these into a charity bags to have handed out to charities nearby just as a good deed as I do sometimes make jewellery to raise money for charities.

6 New Dvds

I decided to have a look online to see if I could find some dvds on ebay that I havent already got. I'm sure there are plenty but these were a random selection I picked out.

Before now, I had only heard of one of them: the art of war. Although that is because I think I have it already somewhere which means I'll need to go hunting through my dvds to see if I can find it as I have some in my bedroom and the living room but it can't be far!

Bit of a bargain that I got them all for only £6 total!

I also have an ongoing swap for another dvd & cd although I'll save that for a separate post :)

I must say, I do like watching new movies. Usually if I like something I tell my mum to watch it and it gives her something to watch as well.
